Join us for an incredible weekend of riding, rounded off with amazing culinary experiences and charming village atmosphere that only the Overberg can offer. After arriving and being treated to a special meal on Friday afternoon/evening, we will do about 50km of riding in the Klein River Valley on Saturday, gathering our lunch ingredients along the way. On Sunday, you can choose how to spend your morning, either with more trails or gravel round, or exploring Stanford on foot.
This trip promises amazing riding, much of which accesses private property not normally open to the public, and also includes stylish country-style accommodation and gourmet food that is sure to have you heading back to the city energised for another week of hustle in these crazy times.
Costs: The price per person for this weekend of awesome mountain biking bliss is only R2475.00 per person, and is strictly limited to no more than 12 riders. The price includes three night’s accommodation, all meals (excluding drinks), 2 cheese tasting platters, 1 beer taster and 2 wine tasters, guided rides and applicable transfers.
Friday: Arrive at your leisure during Friday afternoon, receive a welcoming drink and snack, and settle into your accommodation for the weekend. We will then all get together at around 19:00 for a delicious dinner at one of Stanford’s prime restaurants, followed by some fireside conversation, and then settle in for the night to rest up for Saturday’s riding. If you arrive early enough, we can arrange a quick ride around town, just for fun.
Saturday: Approximately 50km of riding for the day, some of it on challenging singletrack, and some proper climbs, but also lots of rest stops along the way. Remember, this is not a race….
Early morning coffee and rusks will be served, before we kit up and head out for a leisurely day of cycling up the scenic Klein River Valley. The morning starts with riding along the well-known route up past Stanford Hills, then transitions onto private single track, only accessible via the special permission we have organised for you. We will progress by slowly winding our way up to the top of the valley, where we will stop off at Stonehouse dairy and cheese farm for a tasting. We then start making our way down the valley, stopping off at a few winemakers and cheese farms along the way to sample their wares as we make our way back towards Stanford, finishing the day off with a late lunch, made up of ingredients collected along the way. We end the day off with a sundowner in hand while we overlook Walker Bay, before enjoying an interactive pizza-making experience for dinner.
Sunday: Coffee and rusks will be made available again before we head out for a leisurely morning’s riding. There are a few options for today’s ride, which will have been discussed in detail over dinner the night before. Whether you choose to go bomb down the trails in the Hemel and Aarde valley, or take it easy doing some gravel road cruising around town, or leave the bike altogether and spend the morning strolling along the promenade in Hermanus, is all up to you. Either way, we will all get together for lunch, before saying our goodbyes and heading off for home.
