A truly splendid 7 Day Gravel/MTB Adventure, taking in some of the best riding that the Southern Cape and Overberg regions have to offer. Starting off in the sleepy coastal town of Stillbaai, snaking your way across the country over 5 epic riding days, crossing the Breede River at Malgas, stopping off in Arniston for some of the best fish and chips in the world, and cruising through fields of canola and pastures of lucern as you reach your final stop in Staford, the jewel of the Overberg. See the itinerary and details below…

Day 1: Arrive in Stillbaai in the early afternoon, settle into the accommodation, and do quick bike checks to make sure everything is in order for tomorrow. Late afternoon we will go off to Inveroche for a gin tasting and then spend the evening around the braai, breaking the ice and getting to know one another. The guides will do a presentation overviewing the route for the next week and letting you know what to expect. (We will provide a free airport shuttle from George to Stillbaai, Transfer from Cape Town can also be arranged)

Day 2: Today the riding begins. Early morning a light breakfast will be served, and then its onto the bikes, as we take the road up the coast, from Stillbaai towards Witsand, enjoying the scenery and evening spotting some rare game and endangered cranes along the route if we are lucky. A relatively easy 80km ride will see us arriving in Witsand around Lunchtime. After Lunch, the rest of the day is at leisure, to relax on the beach, or maybe try your luck at catching some mullet in the estuary.

Day 3: Today is a day full of highlights, as we make our way up the Breede river towards the ferry crossing at Malgas, and then continue on into the De Hoop nature reserve, enjoying some epic trail riding in De Hoop, before ending the day off at our overnight stop on the shores of the De Hoop Vlei. Tonight we will be treated to a proper Lamb Braai, enjoying some of the regions best free-range produce. (total distance approx 80km – but will vary based on the trail conditions in de hoop – there are various options)

Day 4: After Breakfast, we say goodbye to De Hoop, and make our way through the reserve and back to the district roads, and then continue on via Bredasdorp, towards Arniston. Its another 80km day, and we will arrive in fishing village of Arniston just in time to enjoy some of the best fish and chips on the planet for lunch. After lunch, we will go an have a look around at Waenhuiskrans, before loading the bikes up, and taking the shuttle through to our overnight stop at Aghulas.

Day 5: Today we head inland a little again, as we make our way from the lighthouse at the southern tip of Africa, towards the old mission town of Elim, where we will spend the night. there are two choices today, a short and easy 44km ride, or for those that still have diesel in the tanks, you can opt for the slightly longer scenic route, totalling 68km.

Day 6: Today is our final riding day, and after a scrumptious farm breakfast, you are again given two choices of routes to our final destination of Stanford. There is a 40km fast and “flat” route, or there is a 71km tough ride, but it is worth it for the views alone – but there is some serious climibing involved. After arriving in stanford, and freshening up, we encourage you to take a walk around the town, appreciating the art and history of this heritage village. In the late afternoon, we will do a sunset boat cruise on the Klien River Lagoon, and then enjoy a massive feast to celebrate the end of this awesome journey.

Day 7: No Riding today, so we suggest you lie in a little. There will be a big breakfast served at 09:00, after which the shuttle will leave for Cape Town. We will then drop you at the airport, or for locals, we can arrange a drop off at home.
