When is the last time you did something for the first time? Isn’t it about time.
Then this may be just the opportunity you were looking for. Join us as we ride across the world-renowned Makgadigadi Salt Pans in Botswana.
Starting off on the Southern tip of the pans, we begin the ride from just north of Orapa taking three days to cross over nearly 200km of endless desert wilderness, stopping over at famous spots like Kubu Island and Chapmans Boabab, before ending off with some R&R in luxury at Planet Boabab, enjoying the refreshing water of the Kalahari’s biggest and coldest swimming pool.
This trip will include a road transfer for both you and your bike from JHB to the start of the ride, all accommodation, including two nights wilderness “glamping” on the Makgadigadi, and two nights chalet accommodation, all meals and refreshments, and your choice of road transfer back to JHB or a transfer to Maun to fly home (you will need to arrange your own tickets).
There will be a support vehicle following closely but out of sight, so as not to detract from the experience of solitude that only the Makgadigadi can provide.
The riding will not be technical, but reasonable fitness will be required, this time of year, the pans should be dry, making for a firm riding surface, but some sand will be encountered, so tubeless is recommended, for puncture resistance, as well as being able to run lower pressures.
This trip is strictly limited to a maximum of 10 riders to ensure a proper wilderness experience for all, and we will only be doing one trip for the year. Please be sure to book asap to secure your spot.
Cost: R8635.00 P/P sharing (Chalets are shared/tent nights can be arranged to your preference). Includes return transfer from JHB, accommodation, all meals & Refreshments, guide fees and park fees, support vehicle and mobile bike workshop. Excludes items of a personal nature, mandatory travel insurance, and alcohol on the first and last night’s (cash bar available).
