This is a truly awesome, value for money mountain bike escape, and only a short 2.5-hour drive from Pretoria, or 3 hours from JHB. Come and enjoy this wonderful weekend mountain bike escape with us.
In partnership with Verlorenkloof Estate, This trip is everything an avid mountain biker dreams of. Endless miles of gravel to explore, exciting single track, luxury accommodation, excellent food, and views that promise not to disappoint. There is also no shortage of activity to keep you busy off the bike, including flyfishing, Hikes, horse trails, birding and more.
This will be a regular trip on our calender, as of August we will run a trip the first weekend of every month. Space, however, is very limited to keep the exclusivity, and we can, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you see it) only take a maximum of 8 clients per trip. Non-riding partner are however welcome, and there will always be more than enough to keep them entertained.
The basic Itinerary for a weekend consists of the following, but because of the small group nature of this experience, we can make changes to this as the group sees fit – if you want more mile, we can do that, more mountains and single track, also fine.
Friday – Arrive at Verlorenkloof for check-in at 14:00 – settle into your room, have a cup of coffee and meet the rest of the crew, and then we go off for an easy afternoon ride, exploring the farm and some of the milder singletracks on offer – we will also visit some of the archaeological sites on the farm (15-20km)
Saturday – Early start for riders – coffee and rusks/light breakfast before riding out from Verlorenkloof and up the valley, traversing through farmland and tracks that are not normally accessible to the public. The first 20km of the ride is unsupported (but guided), as support vehicles cannot follow us here. The Support crew will meet us at the 20km mark, with some light snacks and water refills (this is at the top of the hill, by the high radio tower). From here the route back to Verlorenkloof follows district roads through farms and plantations, with a few punchy climbs and some thrilling high-speed descents. Even the slower-paced riders should be back at Verlorenkloof by around midday. We will enjoy a light lunch at the restaurant, and then have the afternoon at leisure. This may be an opportunity to do some hiking up to the waterfall, or just relax, or maybe even try some fishing. At 15:30, for those who want, there will be a tour of the dairy operations, and a chance to feed the baby cows (which is great for the kids). Saturday Dinner will be at the croft but will be pre-prepared by Verlorenkloof staff.
Sunday – A 25-30km group ride, along single track and gravel roads will be done. This is 100% optional, and those who prefer to take it easy are welcome to do so. 10:30, everyone is to meet at the restaurant for a big brunch, served by Verlorenkloofs food space team. After brunch, we return to the croft, and pack up at leisure, needing to check out by 14:00 on Sunday afternoon to return home.
You are welcome to self-drive to the venue, but we do also offer a shuttle service from Pretoria, at no extra cost – but please arrange this in advance
Pricing: Weekend trips cost R2585.00pp. (Non-riding partners welcome at the same price, children under 6 free of charge). This price is for a fully catered experience, including accommodation, guides fees and all rides and shuttle cost. Excludes alcohol, items of a personal nature, and additional activities not included in the itinerary.
